Well... we can cross this off our list because we're on vacation! I'm not really sure if this restaurant qualifies as a diner, drive-in, or dive but I'm glad the show introduced it to us. Located in a party district near downtown Tampa, this place was pretty quiet at 5pm on a Tuesday. Unfortunately for Mike, there were no casks to try because, according to the waitress, they don't tap them until Thursday. The decor was dark but comfortable.
We got the Brew House Cider Wings as an appetizer because they were featured on the show and looked amazing. The sauce was delicious but being from wing country the light breading was not our style. It made them soggy. Actually, their homemade blue cheese dipping sauce was my favorite part, great blue cheese flavor that wasn't too strong with garlic!
For dinner, Mike got the Brewhouse Barleywine Meatloaf with Wild Mushroom Demi. He loved it! There were no mushroom chunks in his sauce which he was thankful for but if your expecting them from the TV spot then you may have been disappointed. The cheesy potatoes were yummy as well. Of course I tried both and thought it was delicious with a hint of barleywine beer to bring it all together. He also paired his meal with the Moose Killer Barleywine, which he described as smooth (which can be dangerous at 10% abv).
I got the Four Cheese Mean Green Hoppy Pesto Pizza because I love pesto and a hop infused one sounded interesting. The pizza was yummy especially with the feta chunks that were milky and decadent but I didn't get any hops. Absolutely none. I also had a Iron Rat Stout that was a creamy imperial stout.
Our family really enjoyed the Grilled Sausage and Rigatoni Pasta made with the Wild Wart Hog Weizen and the Cuban Mojo Pulled Pork.
What a great place to share brews with family. Check out the segment from triple D below.
